OUR TROOP
Troop 8 is a Boy Scout troop located in Charlotte, NC. We are part of the Mecklenburg Council and operate at St. Matthews Catholic Church.
Troop 8 is dedicated to achieving the mission of the Boy Scouts of America: to prepare the young generations to face ethical and moral decisions over their life, and to use the values of the Scout Oath and Law to create a positive and lasting change in society. Troop 8 continues the legacy set by Scouting by giving back to the community and preparing those who are ready for the adventure that awaits them.
Besides service and leadership, Troop 8 also teaches self-reliance, character, citizenship, and physical and mental fitness. Scouting is known for preparing Scouts for the outdoors, teaching skills like first aid, emergency preparedness, and cooking. However, Scouting also teaches personal skills needed to uphold the Scout Oath and Law in their daily lives, such as personal management, communication, and citizenship in the community, nation and world.
